Shallow river cascades for a family paddle and picnic, south of Kuala Krai.
- Best time
- March to September. The November–January monsoon floods this part of Kelantan, and the river can rise within minutes after rain upstream.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- Fly from KL to Kota Bharu (about an hour), then drive about 1.5–2 hours south through Kuala Krai. By car from KL it's about 6 hours via Gua Musang. Turn off the Kuala Krai–Gua Musang road at Laloh; the falls are about 3 km in.

A long run of low cascades on Sungai Rek at Kampung Laloh, south of Kuala Krai. In fine weather the water is shallow and clear, and it's where Kuala Krai families bring the kids to paddle and picnic on the sand.

Good to know
- There are no rangers and few facilities. Bring your own food and water, and take your rubbish home.
- The fire department lists Lata Rek among the Kuala Krai rivers prone to sudden surges. Get out if the water turns muddy or starts to rise.
- Kelantan's weekend is Friday and Saturday. Come early on those days, or on a weekday.
