lamma island
Car-free island with an easy hike between villages and seafood by the pier.
- Best time
- October to April is cooler and better for walking. Summer is very hot on the exposed trail, and typhoons can stop the ferries. Weekdays are quieter.
- How long
- Half a day to a day
- Getting there
- Fly from KL to Hong Kong (about 4 hours). Ferries from Central Pier 4 take about 30 minutes to Yung Shue Wan and a little longer to Sok Kwu Wan. There are also ferries from Aberdeen.

Hong Kong's third-largest island, with no cars and a laid-back village feel. Most people walk the trail between its two main villages, stop at a beach on the way and finish with seafood by the water.

Good to know
- Check the last ferry times, especially from Sok Kwu Wan, which has fewer sailings than Yung Shue Wan.
- The trail has little shade. Bring water, sunscreen and a hat.
