kuala krai
River town where the Galas and Lebir meet, on the old jungle railway.
- Best time
- March to October. The north-east monsoon, roughly November to February, brings heavy rain, and the town was badly hit by the 2014 floods.
- How long
- Half a day to 1 day
- Getting there
- About an hour's drive from Kota Bharu, which is an hour's flight from KL. By road from KL it's about 5–6 hours via Gua Musang. Trains on the East Coast Line stop here, but they're few and slow.

A river town in central Kelantan, where the Galas and Lebir rivers join to form the Kelantan River. It's a stop on KTM's East Coast Line, the old 'jungle railway', and a quiet base for the Guillemard Bridge, Dabong's caves and kampung life inland.
