kompleks kraf kuala lumpur
Batik painting, a craft museum and painters at work, a short walk from Bukit Bintang.
- Best time
- Any time of year. Weekday mornings are quietest; school holidays and the craft fairs held here fill the workshops.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- Take the MRT Putrajaya line to Conlay; the complex is right by the station. From Bukit Bintang it's about 10 minutes' walk. Driving from the city centre takes about 10 minutes.

Kraftangan Malaysia's craft centre on Jalan Conlay puts the country's crafts in one compound: a museum on how they're made, workshops where you can try batik or ceramics, an artists' village and shops full of batik, songket, pewter and woodwork. It's an easy half day with kids, and the Kedah timber house of Rumah Penghulu Abu Seman is around the corner.

Good to know
- Start with the batik session so your piece can dry while you look around.
- Rumah Penghulu's guided tours run at set times from Tuesday to Saturday, so plan the rest of the visit around one.
