lipe in 3 days, 2 nights
Fly to Langkawi and ferry across, a day of longtail snorkelling round the nearby islands, and a last morning at the Koh Adang viewpoint before the ferry back. Go between November and April, when the ferries run and the sea is clear.
Day 1 Over the border
- Morning
- Fly from KL to Langkawi, about an hour, then take the ferry to Lipe, about 1.5 hours. Clear Malaysian immigration at the Langkawi jetty before you board.
- Afternoon
- Clear Thai immigration on the island when you land, then walk to your hotel. Late lunch and a swim off Pattaya Beach.
- Evening
- Walk across the island to Sunset Beach for the sunset. All three beaches are within walking distance of each other.
- Night
- Seafood barbecue on Walking Street. Pick your fish or squid at the grills.
Day 2 Snorkelling day
- Morning
- Longtail snorkelling tour to Koh Adang, Koh Rawi, Koh Hin Ngam and Koh Yang, for reefs and clear water.
- Lunch
- Back on Lipe, southern Thai food: curry, fried rice or roti, with plenty of halal options.
- Afternoon
- Rest in the shade, or try a first dive. Lipe is an easy place to learn.
- Evening
- A walk along Sunrise Beach, then dinner on Walking Street.
Day 3 Koh Adang and home
- Morning
- Early longtail across to Koh Adang for the short, steep climb to the viewpoint over Lipe.
- Lunch
- Lunch on Lipe, then pack up.
- Afternoon
- Clear Thai immigration, then the ferry back to Langkawi and the flight home.
Good to know
- Bring your passport. You clear Thai immigration on the island both ways.
- Langkawi ferries are limited and change with the season. Check the times before you book flights; you may need a night in Langkawi.
- Pack light, as boats drop you on the beach or at a floating jetty. Don't touch the coral or take shells or stones.
