Long west-coast beaches, a wooden old town and easy seafood dinners.
- Best time
- December to March is dry, with calm, clear water. April is hot. From May to October the monsoon brings rough seas on the west coast, some resorts close, and the marine park islands shut from around mid-May to mid-October.
- How long
- 4–5 days
- Getting there
- About 1.5 hours direct from KL to Krabi, then about 2.5 hours by road, with a short car ferry to Lanta Noi and a bridge across to Lanta Yai. Thailand is 1 hour behind KL.

A long, laid-back island south of Krabi, with sandy beaches down its west coast and an old fishing town of wooden stilt houses on the east. Much of the island is Muslim, so halal seafood dinners are easy to come by.

Good to know
- Halal is easy: Saladan and the Old Town are full of Muslim-run restaurants, though beach resorts often serve pork.
- The beaches are strung out along one coast road, so rent a scooter or use the tuk-tuks.
