Sand dunes dropping straight into a tidal sea inlet south of Doha.
- Best time
- November–March is best, with warm days and evenings that turn surprisingly cold. May–September is too hot for a comfortable desert trip.
- How long
- 1 day from Doha
- Getting there
- About 7.5 hours direct from KL to Doha on Qatar Airways or Malaysia Airlines. The Inland Sea is about 1.5–2 hours from Doha by 4WD, including the dune crossing from Sealine. Qatar is 5 hours behind KL.

Khor Al Adaid, Qatar's 'Inland Sea', is a tidal inlet where tall dunes run straight down into the water. It's a desert day out from Doha rather than a town, and the last stretch is over sand.

Things to do
Good to know
- Go with an experienced dune driver; ordinary cars and taxis can't cross the sand.
- Food is halal as standard. Half-day trips may include only drinks, so ask whether a meal is included.
- Fighting involving Iran closed Gulf airspace several times in 2026, cancelling flights at short notice, so a flexible ticket and insurance that covers disruption are worth having.
Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
