Masjid Kampung Hulu, built around 1728, is the oldest mosque in Melaka and one of the oldest in Malaysia. With Masjid Kampung Kling and Masjid Tengkera, it shows off the old Melaka style: stacked, Javanese-style roofs and minarets that look like pagodas. All three are within 10 minutes of each other, so they make an easy morning.

Good to know
- Dress modestly and take your shoes off before the prayer halls; women should bring a scarf to cover their hair.
- Putu piring is made to order and hardens as it cools, so eat it on the spot.
- Park once by the river and walk between Kampung Hulu and Kampung Kling; the lanes are narrow.
