kampung baru
Nasi lemak, wooden kampung houses and the Twin Towers across the river.
- Best time
- Any time of year. Late afternoon into evening is best for food and for the towers lighting up. Saturday night has the Pasar Minggu, and in Ramadan the bazaar on Jalan Raja Alang is one of KL's biggest.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- Take the Kelana Jaya LRT to Kampung Baru, a few minutes' walk from Jalan Raja Muda Musa, or the MRT Putrajaya line to Raja Uda for the northern end. From KLCC, walk over Saloma Link in about 15 minutes. Don't drive; parking in the lanes is scarce.

An old Malay village that never moved, with wooden houses and fruit trees sitting right below the KLCC towers. Come hungry: Jalan Raja Muda Musa is lined with nasi lemak, lauk and kuih, and the walk back over Saloma Link gives you the skyline.

Good to know
- In Ramadan most stalls only open in the late afternoon for buka puasa, and the bazaar crowds peak just before sunset.
- The houses are people's homes; ask before taking close-up photos and stay outside the gates.
