A long forest walk from an Orang Asli village to a tall, narrow waterfall in Hulu Langat.

Best time
February to October, after a few dry days. Selangor closes its forest reserves over the year-end monsoon, usually from mid-November to the end of January, and the trail is slippery and full of leeches after rain.

Getting there
About an hour's drive from KL via Cheras and Jalan Hulu Langat, past Kampung Sungai Lui towards Gabai Falls; the trail starts at the Orang Asli village off that road. There's no public transport.

Jeram Perlus is a waterfall you walk most of the day for: about 18 km there and back from an Orang Asli village in Hulu Langat, along an old track through the forest. It's long rather than steep, and it ends at a near-vertical fall of 15–20 m dropping into a pool.

Good to know

  • You need a Selangor Forestry permit, applied for online through SEFOREST at least 48 hours ahead.
  • Hire an Orang Asli guide at the village the first time. Side tracks branch off, and it's easy to go wrong.
  • It's no walk for young kids. In June 2026 a hiker who broke his leg near the falls took almost 20 hours to carry out.
