- Fly from KL to Seoul Incheon (about 6.5 hours). The KTX towards Gangneung reaches Jinbu in about 1.5 hours, then it's under an hour by bus or taxi to Jeongseon. Korea is an hour ahead of KL.

A mountain county in Gangwon, all river bends, old mining towns and railway lines. It's the home of the Arirang folk song, and the rail bikes and five-day market are the classic reasons to come.

Good to know
- Book the rail bike ahead, especially at weekends and in autumn.
- The ski resort and Jeongseon town are about an hour apart, so pick your base for what you want to do.
