Western Visayas' biggest city sits on the southeast coast of Panay island, and was one of Spain's earliest colonial centres in the Philippines. Ilonggos are proud of their food, their old stone churches and the grand ancestral houses in districts like Jaro and Molo. It's an easy-going city to eat your way through over a couple of days.

Good to know

  • Most of the signature dishes, including batchoy and pancit Molo, are pork-based. Halal food is limited, so look for halal-certified places or ask before ordering.
  • Grab works in the city. Jeepneys go almost everywhere, but you need to know the routes.

Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
