Thailand's oldest beach resort, a favourite of the royal family since the 1920s. It's more family than party, with a long beach, night markets, plenty of seafood and easy day trips to palaces, caves and theme parks.

Good to know

  • Keep food and bags out of sight at Khao Takiab. The monkeys grab.
  • Dress modestly for the palaces. Shorts and sleeveless tops aren't allowed.
