Hobart wraps around a working harbour beneath kunanyi / Mount Wellington. Sandstone warehouses, fishing boats and steep lanes of old cottages sit close together, and MONA is a ferry ride up the river.

Good to know

  • The summit is much colder and windier than the city, even in summer, so take a warm layer.
  • Halal restaurants are few in Hobart. Seafood is the easy fallback, and Indian restaurants are the likeliest place to find halal meat.
