gunung yong belar
A G7 summit above the Lojing farms, through mossy forest on the Kelantan–Perak border.
- Best time
- March to September. Mist and rain are possible any month up here, and the north-east monsoon, roughly November to February, makes the trail treacherous.
- How long
- 2 days, 1 night
- Getting there
- About 4 hours' drive from KL: the North–South Expressway to Simpang Pulai, then Route 185 past Cameron into Lojing. Groups usually meet at Masjid Lojing on the main road, then take a 4WD up through the vegetable farms to the trailhead.

At 2,181 metres, Yong Belar is Kelantan's highest peak and one of the G7, the seven highest in Peninsular Malaysia. It rises above the Lojing highlands on the Kelantan–Perak border. A 4WD ride up through the farms makes it one of the more approachable of the seven, but it's still a steep, muddy climb for experienced hikers, with a licensed guide and a forestry permit.

Things to do
Good to know
- A licensed mountain guide (malim gunung) and a forestry permit are compulsory. Your guide or organiser can arrange both.
- It gets cold at night. Bring a warm layer and keep your sleeping bag dry.
- Skip the one-day dash unless everyone in your group is fit and experienced.
