gunung telapak buruk
Mossy ridge forest and the wreck of a 1945 RAF bomber on the Berembun–Telapak Buruk massif.
- Best time
- Drier spells, usually February and June to August, are best; the ridge is muddy and full of leeches after rain. The state forestry department has shut its forest trails at the start of past year-end monsoons (from 1 December 2022 and 28 November 2025), so December trips are a gamble.
- How long
- 1 day
- Getting there
- About 1–1.5 hours' drive from KL: the North–South Expressway to Seremban, then the Jelebu road (Federal Route 86) to Kampung Pantai. Hikes start by the water treatment plant there.

At 1,193 metres, Telapak Buruk is the tallest mountain entirely in Negeri Sembilan, the high point of the forested massif north-east of Seremban. Most hikers come for what lies on the ridge below it: the wreck of an RAF B-24 Liberator that went down on a supply drop in August 1945, reached on a long day from Kampung Pantai over Gunung Berembun.

Things to do
- Gunung BerembunThe first summit, about 1,000 metres, past the Lata Berembun waterfall and Gua Kambing, with roped scrambles near the top. About 4–5 hours there and back.Map ↗
- The Liberator wreckWings and fuselage scattered along the ridge beyond Berembun, towards Telapak Buruk. The round trip from Kampung Pantai takes 7–8 hours.Map ↗
- Telapak Buruk's summitTopped by telecoms towers. The ridge trail on from the wreck was reported closed after flood damage around 2020, so most groups turn back at the plane.Map ↗
Good to know
- Get the forestry permit in advance; the ticket counter at Kampung Pantai also sells them.
- Hire a forestry-registered mountain guide (malim gunung) for the wreck. The ridge path is long and easy to lose.
- Leave the wreckage where it lies. The crew's remains were recovered in 2009 and buried at Cheras War Cemetery, and the site is a memorial.
