Petite France, the Garden of Morning Calm light show and riverside glamping.
- Best time
- Autumn for Nami Island's ginkgo and maple colours, and spring for flowers. In winter the Garden of Morning Calm holds its light festival. Summer is busy with water sports on the river.
- How long
- A day trip from Seoul, or 2 days, 1 night
- Getting there
- Fly from KL to Seoul (about 6.5 hours). The ITX-Cheongchun train from Seoul reaches Gapyeong in about an hour, and the slower Gyeongchun Line commuter train stops here too. Driving takes about 1 to 1.5 hours.

A green county of rivers and hills just east of Seoul, and a favourite weekend escape for Seoulites. It packs in the ferry to Nami Island, Petite France, the Garden of Morning Calm and plenty of riverside camping. It was also the site of the Battle of Kapyong in the Korean War.

Good to know
- The sights are spread out. A car, taxis or the tourist loop bus will save a lot of waiting around.
- Traffic back to Seoul on Sunday evenings can be very slow. Take the train if you can.
