Rainforest trails, a forest skywalk and stream dips right on KL's doorstep.

The Forest Research Institute Malaysia in Kepong is a big stretch of rainforest planted from 1929 on old mining and farm land. It's where KL families come for jungle trails, a cool stream and a walk above the treetops without leaving the city.

Good to know

  • The original canopy walkway closed for good in 2017. The Forest Skywalk is separate and needs a ticket, so check before you go.
  • Bring insect repellent and water. The trails are hot and humid even in the shade.

Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
