foz do iguaçu

Wide views of Iguazu Falls, Atlantic Forest birds and three countries meeting at the rivers.

Best time
April–May and August–September are warm without the worst of the heat. December–February are hot and wet, when the falls run fullest; very high water can close walkways in any month.
How long
2–3 days
Getting there
Fly to São Paulo with one stop, usually via Dubai, Doha or Istanbul, then about 1.75 hours on to Foz, about 28–33 hours all in. The airport is 10 minutes from the Brazilian falls and 20 minutes from town. Foz is 11 hours behind KL all year.

Foz do Iguaçu is the Brazilian town for Iguazu Falls, nearly 3 km of waterfalls pouring through rainforest on the Argentine border. The Brazilian side has the big panorama; the Argentine side across the river gets you right up close.

Good to know

  • Foz has one of Brazil's biggest Muslim communities, so halal is easier here than almost anywhere in the country; the mosque can point you to halal butchers and restaurants.
  • Don't feed the coatis on the trails; they bite, and they'll go through your bag.

Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
