florence
Renaissance paintings, river bridges and red rooftops below the Duomo.
- Best time
- April–June and September–October are comfortable for walking the city. July–August is hot in the narrow streets; November–February is cooler and wetter, but good for a slower gallery trip.
- How long
- 3 days
- Getting there
- Fly with one stop to Rome, usually via Dubai, Doha or Istanbul (about 16–18 hours all in), then a fast train to Florence takes about 1.5 hours. Italy is 6 hours behind KL in summer and 7 in winter.

Florence packs the Renaissance into a small, walkable centre: the Duomo, the Uffizi and Michelangelo's David. Cross the river to Oltrarno for workshops and quieter streets.

Good to know
- Halal kebab and Middle Eastern places are easiest to find near Santa Maria Novella station. Bistecca alla fiorentina and lampredotto (tripe) are not halal.
- Book the Uffizi and the Accademia ahead, because queues without a time slot can take hours.
