erawan national park
Seven-tier turquoise waterfall where little fish nibble your feet.
- Best time
- The falls are fullest and bluest towards the end of the rainy season, around September to December. Weekends and Thai holidays get crowded, so go early on a weekday.
- How long
- Half a day to a full day
- Getting there
- About 1.5 hours' drive from Kanchanaburi town, which is about 2.5 hours from Bangkok. Fly from KL to Bangkok (about 2 hours). Local buses also run from Kanchanaburi.

A forest park west of Kanchanaburi, known for Erawan Falls: seven tiers of turquoise pools stepping down a limestone hillside. You can swim in most of them, and small fish nibble at your feet.
Things to do
- Climb to the seventh tierThe trail runs about 2 km up past all seven levels. The upper part is steeper, with rocks and ladders.Map ↗
- Swim in the poolsThe middle tiers have the best pools for a dip, and the fish come to you.Map ↗

- Srinagarind ReservoirA huge lake next to the park, with viewpoints and raft houses.Map ↗
Good to know
- Food isn't allowed beyond the lower tiers, and staff check bags for plastic bottles.
- Wear shoes that grip. The rocks are slippery.
- Start early so you have time to reach the top and swim on the way down.
