Thailand's highest peak, with twin royal pagodas and chilly sunrise views.
- Best time
- November to February brings clear skies and cold mornings, sometimes near freezing at the top. It gets very crowded around New Year. From around February to April, haze from crop burning can spoil the views.
- How long
- A day trip, or 2 days, 1 night
- Getting there
- Fly from KL to Chiang Mai (about 3 hours), then about 2 hours by road to the summit. Most people hire a car and driver or join a tour.

Thailand's highest mountain, at 2,565 metres, in a national park south-west of Chiang Mai. It's an easy day trip, with waterfalls on the way up, two royal pagodas near the top and a mossy cloud forest at the summit.

Good to know
- Bring a warm jacket. The summit is much colder than Chiang Mai.
- The Kew Mae Pan trail closes in the rainy season, roughly June to October.
- Leave early to catch the sunrise and beat the crowds.
