Souq dinners, Islamic art and a waterfront skyline that makes a stopover worth extending.
- Best time
- November–March is warm and good for the Corniche and eating outdoors. April and October are hot; May–September is extreme, often above 40°C and humid.
- How long
- 2–3 days
- Getting there
- About 7.5 hours direct from KL on Qatar Airways or Malaysia Airlines. The metro's Red Line runs from Hamad airport to the centre in about 20 minutes. Qatar is 5 hours behind KL.

Doha is easy to turn from an airport connection into a few days of museums, souk dinners and waterfront walks. The old market and the glass towers of West Bay face each other across the bay.

Things to do
- Souq WaqifA rebuilt old market of spice shops, falcon traders and courtyard restaurants, liveliest at night.Map ↗
- Museum of Islamic ArtCeramics, metalwork and manuscripts in a stone building on the water, with skyline views from the park outside.Map ↗
- National Museum of QatarThe country's story from pearl divers to gas wealth, inside a building shaped like a desert rose.Map ↗

Good to know
- Food is halal as standard; alcohol is served only in hotels and licensed venues.
- For Souq Waqif and the National Museum, change from the Red Line to the Gold Line at Msheireb.
- Fighting involving Iran closed Gulf airspace several times in 2026, cancelling flights at short notice, so a flexible ticket and insurance that covers disruption are worth having.
Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
