Fly with one stop to Amman, usually via Dubai, Doha or Istanbul, about 14–17 hours all in. The resorts around Sweimeh are about an hour from Amman's airport by road. Jordan is 5 hours behind KL.

The Dead Sea is so salty that you float without trying, and its shore is the lowest land on Earth. Jordan's eastern side is lined with resort beaches, with desert gorges and the site where Jesus is believed to have been baptised close by.

Good to know

  • Float on your back, keep the water away from your eyes and don't shave the day before; every small cut stings.
  • Food is halal as standard in Jordan, though the resorts serve alcohol.
  • Fighting in the region closed Jordanian and Gulf airspace at times in 2026, so a flexible ticket and insurance that covers disruption are worth having.
