chocolate hills
Over a thousand cone-shaped hills that turn chocolate brown in the dry season.
- Best time
- Come in the late dry season, around March to May, if you want them chocolate brown; the rest of the year they're green. Early morning or late afternoon has softer light and less heat.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- Fly from KL to Manila or Cebu (about 4 hours), then on to Bohol–Panglao airport, or take the fast ferry from Cebu City to Tagbilaran (about 2 hours). The hills are about 1.5–2 hours by road from Tagbilaran or Panglao.

More than 1,200 grassy, cone-shaped hills spread across the middle of Bohol, as far as you can see. They're green most of the year and turn brown in the dry season, which is where the name comes from. Most people see them on a countryside day tour.

Good to know
- The viewing deck has little shade. Bring water and a hat.
- Hire a driver for the day. The hills are far from the beaches and public transport is slow.
