A small, busy fishing island south-west of Hong Kong Island, shaped like a dumbbell. There are no regular cars, just bikes and narrow lanes, and the harbourfront is lined with seafood restaurants and snack stalls. It's also home to the Bun Festival.

Good to know

  • During the Bun Festival the island goes vegetarian for a few days, even at the fast-food places.
  • Rent a bike near the pier or just walk. Weekends get crowded, so go on a weekday if you can.
