casablanca
An oceanfront mosque, Art Deco streets and seafood in Morocco's biggest city.
- Best time
- April–June and September–October are mild enough for long walks. Summer is warmer and busier on the coast; winter can be wet and windy.
- How long
- 1–2 days
- Getting there
- Fly with one stop, usually via Istanbul, Doha or Dubai, about 17–20 hours all in. The airport train reaches Casa Voyageurs station in about 40 minutes. Morocco is 8 hours behind KL, and Malaysians don't need a visa.

Casablanca is Morocco's big working city on the Atlantic, with trams, apartment blocks and faded Art Deco façades. It's worth a day or two for the Hassan II Mosque, a walk round the old centre and a seafood lunch before heading inland.

Good to know
- Muslim visitors can join prayers at the Hassan II Mosque, which is also one of the few in Morocco with guided tours for non-Muslims.
- Casablanca has two main stations, Casa Voyageurs and Casa Port, so check which one your train uses.
- Food is halal as standard, and alcohol is found only in some hotels and restaurants.
