carey island
Mah Meri woodcarvings and masks in Orang Asli villages among the oil palms.
- Best time
- Any time of year. If you can, time it for Hari Moyang, the Mah Meri ancestors' day, when villages hold dances and ceremonies. The date changes each year.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- About an hour's drive from KL via Banting. Bridges link the island to the mainland, so there's no ferry to worry about.

A large island south of Port Klang, cut off from the mainland by the Langat River and mostly covered in oil palm estates. It's home to the Mah Meri, an Orang Asli people known for their woodcarvings, masks and dances.
