A castle in the middle of town, Victorian shopping arcades and a waterfront on the old docks.
- Best time
- April–October suits walks around the castle and the bay, with long evenings in May–June. November–February is wet and dark early, and rugby match days fill the centre whatever the weather.
- How long
- 2 days
- Getting there
- Fly direct from KL to London (about 14 hours) on Malaysia Airlines or British Airways, then take the train from Paddington to Cardiff Central, about 2 hours. The UK is 7 hours behind KL in summer and 8 in winter.

The Welsh capital fits a castle, covered Victorian arcades and the national rugby stadium within a few minutes' walk of the station. Cardiff Bay and the open-air museum at St Fagans are worth another day.
