Bukit Gapis, at Nyalas in Melaka's north-east corner, is the state's highest point. At 480 metres it clears the bar for a mountain, so in 2020 the state named it Gunung Melaka. The climb starts in a rubber estate and goes up through forest to a summit stone dated 1901, on the border with Negeri Sembilan.

Good to know

  • You need a Melaka Forestry permit and a registered mountain guide (malim gunung), who can take up to seven hikers. Sort both out before you go.
  • Parking is a small patch of village land at the trailhead, and there are no toilets.

Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
