bukit batu sawa
A 30-minute climb near Kuala Klawang to a summit boulder above morning mist and paddy fields.
- Best time
- Any dry morning, with February and June to August the driest spells. Aim to be at the top by about 7am: the cloud is thickest around sunrise and burns off as the sun climbs. It forms more often after a humid night, but never count on it.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- About 1.5 hours' drive from KL through Hulu Langat to Kuala Klawang, then about 15 minutes to the trailhead at Kampung Peradong. There's no public transport.

Bukit Batu Sawa is Jelebu's sunrise hill, 333 metres high, a short drive out of Kuala Klawang at Kampung Peradong. A red-earth trail climbs through a rubber estate and then forest to a big boulder at the top. Early risers get views over the paddy fields and, on good mornings, a carpet of cloud in the valleys.

Good to know
- Leave KL by about 4.30am and climb by headlamp to be up in time for sunrise.
- Go on a weekday if you can. The top is small and fills up fast on weekend mornings.
