Buenos Aires is a city of grand avenues and old cafés, made for long walks through very different neighbourhoods. Tango and steak are the famous draws, but late dinners and Sunday markets show the everyday city.

Good to know
- Halal is scarce, and the grills cook pork chorizo next to the beef; cheese, spinach and humita empanadas make an easy meat-free lunch.
- Dinner starts late, rarely before 9pm, so do as locals do and have coffee and pastries in the late afternoon.
- Most domestic flights, including to Patagonia, leave from Aeroparque in the city, not Ezeiza; allow at least an hour to get between them.
