bryce canyon national park

Orange rock spires, rim viewpoints and walking trails through a stone amphitheatre.

Best time
May–September are the easiest months, with afternoon thunderstorms in summer. October gets cold and can bring snow; December–February are freezing, with icy trails.
How long
1–2 days
Getting there
Fly to Las Vegas with one stop via Seoul, about 20–23 hours all in, then drive about 4 hours. Zion is 1.5–2 hours away, so most people combine the two. Utah is 14 hours behind KL, 15 from November to early March. Malaysians need a US B1/B2 visitor visa, usually with an interview at the embassy in KL; ESTA isn't open to Malaysian passports.

Bryce is the edge of a high plateau eroded into thousands of orange rock spires called hoodoos. The rim viewpoints are easy, but walking down among the hoodoos gives the place a completely different scale.

Things to do

  1. Sunrise and Sunset PointsA rim path joins two viewpoints over the main amphitheatre. Go at sunrise, when the hoodoos glow.Map ↗
  2. Navajo Loop and Queen's GardenThe classic walk below the rim, down among the hoodoos and back up the switchbacks.Map ↗

Good to know

  • Bryce is 2,400–2,700 metres up and much colder than Zion; bring a warm layer even in summer, and take the climb back up slowly.
  • Non-US residents pay an extra per-person fee at Bryce Canyon and ten other busy national parks, so on a multi-park trip the non-resident annual pass can work out cheaper.
  • There's no halal nearby, so bring food from Las Vegas.

Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
