boracay

Powdery White Beach and some of the best sunsets in the Philippines.

Best time
November to May is the dry season, with calm water on White Beach. June to October brings rain, rougher seas and the chance of typhoons. Christmas, New Year and Holy Week are the busiest.
How long
3–4 days
Getting there
Fly from KL to Manila (about 4 hours) or Cebu, then take a short domestic flight to Caticlan. From there it's a few minutes to the jetty and about 15 minutes by boat to the island. Kalibo airport has more flights but is about 1.5–2 hours by road from the jetty.

A small island off the north-west tip of Panay, famous for the long, powdery White Beach and its sunsets. It was closed for six months in 2018 for a big clean-up and now has stricter rules to keep it that way. Expect resorts, water sports and a lively night scene.

Good to know

  • Have your hotel booking ready at the Caticlan jetty. It may be checked before you board the boat.
  • Smoking and drinking are not allowed on the beach itself, and the rules are enforced.
  • Halal food is limited, so seafood is the easier option for Muslim travellers.

Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
