Best time
November to April gives the best chance of clear views down to the coast. In the rainy season, roughly May to October, the summit is often lost in fog, but the waterfall flows strongest.

Fly KL to Phnom Penh (about 2 hours), then about 3 hours by road to Kampot. From Kampot it's about an hour up the mountain road by car, scooter or on a tour.

A French hill station built in the 1920s on top of Bokor Mountain, inside Preah Monivong National Park, about 37 km west of Kampot. It was abandoned more than once and stood as a misty ghost town for decades. A good road now winds to the top, where the old church and ruins sit alongside a large modern resort and casino.

Good to know

  • Bring a jacket. It's noticeably cooler at the top, and fog can roll in quickly.
  • The road is good but long and winding. Only ride a scooter up if you're confident on mountain bends.
