An old gold-mining town about an hour from Kuching, surrounded by limestone hills. Most people come for its two caves, Fairy Cave and Wind Cave, and stay for the flooded mine lake and the old wooden shophouses nearby.

Good to know

  • Bring a torch for Wind Cave and shoes with good grip for Fairy Cave's stairs.
  • The two caves are close to each other, so you can do both in one morning.

Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
