Gaudí's tiled buildings, old-town lanes and seafood beside the Mediterranean.

Best time
April–June and September–October are warm enough for the beach and cool enough for walking. July–August is hot and packed; November–March is mild and quieter, but too cool for swimming.
How long
3–4 days
Getting there
Fly with one stop, usually via Dubai, Doha or Istanbul, about 16–18 hours all in. The Aerobús reaches Plaça de Catalunya in about 35 minutes. Spain is 6 hours behind KL in summer and 7 in winter.

Barcelona packs Gaudí's buildings, medieval lanes and a city beach into one easy metro map. Book the big sights, take a long lunch and finish the day by the sea.

  2. Park GüellMosaic benches, gingerbread-like gatehouses and city views on a hillside above Gràcia.Map ↗
  3. Gothic Quarter and El BornNarrow medieval lanes, the cathedral, small squares and the Picasso Museum.Map ↗
  4. La BoqueriaThe big covered market off La Rambla, with fruit juices, olives, ham legs and seafood counters.Map ↗

Good to know

  • Book Sagrada Família and Park Güell online for a time slot; both sell out days ahead in busy months.
  • Pickpockets work La Rambla, the metro and the beach, so keep your phone off café tables.
  • Halal is easy in El Raval, just west of La Rambla, where Pakistani and Moroccan restaurants line the streets.

Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
