bank negara malaysia museum and art gallery
Old coins and notes, hands-on money galleries for kids and Malaysian art in Sasana Kijang.
- Best time
- Any time of year; it's the plan when rain rules out a park. It's closed on Mondays.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- Take the KTM Komuter to Bank Negara, or the LRT to Bandaraya and cross Jalan Kuching by the footbridge; either way it's about 10 minutes' walk. Driving from the city centre takes about 10 minutes, and there's parking in the building.

Bank Negara's museum fills Sasana Kijang, the central bank's building on Jalan Dato' Onn, with six galleries: the history of money, Islamic finance, the economy, the bank itself, a children's gallery and a top floor of Malaysian and Southeast Asian art. It's cool, quiet and good for a couple of hours with kids.
