An inland city in North Gyeongsang that calls itself the capital of Korean spirit, thanks to its deep Confucian roots. Most people come for Hahoe Folk Village, where families still live in Joseon-era houses, and the masked dances that go with it. It's also where Andong jjimdak comes from.

Good to know

  • People still live in Hahoe's houses. Stay out of private courtyards and keep your voice down.
  • Buses to Hahoe aren't frequent, and the mask dance runs on a schedule. Check both before you go.

Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
