Dim sum breakfasts, crispy roast pork and quiet islands like Ko Kradan.
- Best time
- December to April is dry, with calmer seas for island hopping. From May to October the monsoon brings rain and rough water, and some island resorts close.
- How long
- 3–4 days with the islands
- Getting there
- Fly from KL to Bangkok (about 2 hours), then about 1.5 hours to Trang. Or fly to Hat Yai (about 1 hour 15 minutes), or drive up through Bukit Kayu Hitam, and it's about 2.5 hours by road from Hat Yai to Trang.

Trang is a relaxed southern Thai town with a strong Chinese streak, and it takes breakfast very seriously. Mornings mean dim sum, crispy roast pork and strong local coffee. From the coast, boats head out to quiet islands like Ko Kradan, Ko Mook and Ko Libong.

Good to know
- The famous dim sum and roast pork aren't halal. Halal food is easy to find, especially in the Muslim fishing villages on the islands.
- Island boats run less often or stop in the monsoon season. Check before you book.
