taipa
Pastel houses, temple lanes and snack shops in the old village beside Cotai.
- Best time
- October–March is comfortable for walking. July–September brings heat and typhoon risk, and holiday weekends crowd the small food streets.
- How long
- Half a day to 1 day
- Getting there
- Fly direct from KL to Macau (about 4 hours). Taipa Village is about 10 minutes from the airport by taxi, and the Light Rail stops nearby.

Taipa was once a separate island; now its old village of pastel houses and narrow lanes sits right beside the giant Cotai casino resorts. It's an easy afternoon of snacks, small museums and wandering.

Good to know
- Start at the Taipa Houses, then walk up to Rua do Cunha; the snack street is quieter in the morning.
- The village's bakeries and Portuguese restaurants aren't halal. The nearest certified halal restaurants are in the big Cotai resorts next door.
