Bubble tea's birthplace, Gaomei Wetlands sunsets and the giant Fengjia night market.
- Best time
- October to April is drier and mild. Summer is hot with afternoon storms, and typhoons can pass through from July to September.
- How long
- 2 days, 1 night
- Getting there
- Fly from KL to Taipei (about 5 hours). The High Speed Rail from Taoyuan or Taipei reaches Taichung in about an hour. The HSR station is outside the centre, so take a local train or bus in.

Taiwan's second-largest city, in the middle of the west coast. It's newer and more spread out than Taipei, with big museums, a huge night market and a strong claim to inventing bubble tea. It's also the easy base for Sun Moon Lake, Cingjing and Lukang.
