sungai menyala forest
Boardwalk trails under 45-metre jelutong trees and a forest sundial, just inland from PD.
- Best time
- Any time of year, on a dry morning. February and June to August are the driest spells; after rain the trails turn muddy and the leeches come out.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- About 1.5 hours' drive from KL on the North–South Expressway and the Seremban–Port Dickson Highway, then Jalan Sua Betong. It's about 15–20 minutes from Port Dickson town.

Sungai Menyala is a lowland rainforest reserve just inland from Port Dickson, protected since 1917. The Forestry Department runs it as PD Forest, an eco-education centre with short trails and boardwalks under tall meranti and keruing. It's an easy forest walk to add to a PD beach weekend.

Good to know
- Go early. The forest is cooler and the birds are busiest before 9am.
- The centre has dormitories and rooms if you want to stay for a night walk or the stars.
