Masjid Selat Melaka stands on stilts at the edge of Pulau Melaka, a man-made island just off the city. At high tide the sea comes in underneath and it seems to float, and at sunset the dome and stained glass glow over the Strait of Malacca. It opened in 2006, and its 30-metre minaret doubles as a lighthouse.
