las vegas
Neon streets, big stage shows and red desert cliffs just outside the city.
- Best time
- March–April and October–November are warm and comfortable outdoors. June–August regularly pass 40°C, which rules out hiking; winter days are mild, but desert nights get cold.
- How long
- 2–3 days
- Getting there
- Fly with one stop via Seoul, where Korean Air connects to Las Vegas daily, about 20–23 hours all in; otherwise connect through Los Angeles or San Francisco. The airport is 15–20 minutes from the Strip. Vegas is 15 hours behind KL, 16 from November to early March. Malaysians need a US B1/B2 visitor visa, usually with an interview at the embassy in KL; ESTA isn't open to Malaysian passports.

Vegas is giant casino resorts, big stage shows and a Strip that looks walkable until you try it. Red sandstone desert starts half an hour from the neon, so a few days can mix late nights with early-morning hikes.

Things to do

Good to know
- Halal is easy a short drive off the Strip, at Middle Eastern and South Asian places; inside the casinos it's hard to find.
- Red Rock's scenic drive needs a timed-entry booking from October to May, on top of the entry fee or a park pass.
- Next-door resorts can be a 15-minute walk apart, so leave plenty of time between dinner and a show.
