At about 2,170 metres, Gunung Chamah is one of the G7, the seven highest peaks in Peninsular Malaysia, and one of the hardest to reach. It's an expedition for experienced hikers only: a long 4WD ride to an Orang Asli village, then days of forest trekking and camping with a licensed guide.

Things to do
- Kampung RekomThe Orang Asli village a few hours' walk from the road, where most groups sleep before and after the summit.Map ↗

Good to know
- You need a forestry permit and a licensed mountain guide (malim gunung). Book through an organiser who handles both, plus the 4WD.
- Only for fit hikers with multi-day jungle camping behind them. Train with a loaded pack first.
- Groups are usually big to share the 4WD cost, so join an organised trip rather than going alone.
