gunung angsi
A forest workout from Bukit Putus, with ridge views and lunch on the Kuala Pilah road.
- Best time
- Drier spells, usually February and June to August, are best; the roots get slippery after rain. The state forestry department has shut its forest trails at the start of past year-end monsoons (from 1 December 2022 and 28 November 2025), so December trips are a gamble.
- How long
- Half a day
- Getting there
- About 1 hour's drive from KL: the North–South Expressway to Seremban, then Federal Route 51 towards Kuala Pilah. The Bukit Putus trailhead is about 20–30 minutes from Seremban town.

Gunung Angsi, 825 metres, rises between Seremban and Kuala Pilah and is a regular weekend climb for Klang Valley hikers. The Bukit Putus trail starts right off the Seremban–Kuala Pilah road: a steep stretch of steps, then forest ridge with ropes in places, two viewpoints and a summit clearing.

Things to do
- The Bukit Putus trailAbout 4.5 km each way. The first 2 km, up concrete and metal steps, is the steepest; after that it's forest ridge.Map ↗
- The viewpointsTwo lookouts on the way up open out over the hills around Seremban and Kuala Pilah.Map ↗
- The summitA forest clearing at the top. Most people take 2–3 hours to get there.Map ↗
Good to know
- Pay for the forestry permit at the Bukit Putus counter, which opens early at weekends, and start by mid-morning: late starters are turned away.
- Stick to Bukit Putus. Ulu Bendul, the other trailhead, was shut in mid-2026 after leptospirosis cases at its eco park.
- Allow 4–6 hours there and back, depending on the group.
