goa
Beach days, tiled Portuguese-era houses and fish curry in the coconut groves.
- Best time
- November–March is beach weather, with Christmas and New Year the busiest weeks. April–May is hot, and June–September is green and rainy, with rough seas and most beach shacks packed away.
- How long
- 4–6 days
- Getting there
- No direct flights from KL. Fly with one stop, usually via Mumbai, Bengaluru or Chennai, about 8–10 hours all in. Goa has two airports, Mopa in the north and Dabolim in the middle, so pick the one nearer your beach. India is 2.5 hours behind KL.

Goa is a whole small state of beaches, and the trip changes with the stretch you pick: busy in the north, slower in the south. Inland are whitewashed churches, Portuguese-era villages and Panaji's old tiled lanes.

Good to know
- Goan cooking uses a lot of pork, from chouriço sausage to sorpotel and vindaloo, so fish curry and seafood are the easy choice. Halal meat is harder to find.
- Driving from one end of Goa to the other can take most of a morning, so one base per region works better than hopping around.
