Dublin is a compact, walkable capital of Georgian squares, old libraries and pubs with live music. The DART train runs around the bay, so a seaside village is never far away.

Good to know
- Halal is easy: Parnell Street, just north of O'Connell Street, is lined with Pakistani, Lebanese and Syrian places, and the South Circular Road near the Islamic Foundation has halal butchers.
- Most of the Long Room's books have been moved out for conservation, and the hall closes for restoration at the end of 2027; the Book of Kells stays on show.
- For Howth, take a DART marked Howth, not Malahide; the line splits at Howth Junction.
