conwy
Castle towers, medieval town walls and a little harbour on a Welsh estuary.
- Best time
- April–September is best for the exposed walls and quay, with July–August busy with day-trippers. November–February is wet, windy and dark early.
- How long
- 1–2 days
- Getting there
- Fly direct from KL to London (about 14 hours) on Malaysia Airlines or British Airways, then take the train from Euston to Llandudno Junction, about 3 hours. Conwy is a 5-minute taxi or a 20-minute walk across the river. The UK is 7 hours behind KL in summer and 8 in winter.

Conwy is a small medieval town still wrapped in its walls, with a huge castle on the estuary and a quay of fishing boats. Everything is a few minutes' walk apart, so it pairs well with a few nights in Eryri.

Good to know
- The stretch of wall between the Watch Tower and the Wing Gate has been closed since 2024, with reopening hoped for by Easter 2027; the other sections are open.
- Halal food is scarce in Conwy, so self-catering helps; Llandudno, 10 minutes away, has big supermarkets.
Last checked October 2026. Things change, so check opening times, fees and transport before you go.
